We are pleased to announce the preliminary schedule of authors, galleries and countries, whose best textile works will be presented throughout the 12th Prague Patchwork Meeting.
Apart from individual artists from all over the world, Prague regularly hosts national collections, which will in 2017 be represented primarily by quilts from Germany showing the top Collection Tradition to Contemporary. My Corner of the World and SAQA Canada will show the visitors another quilting tradition. For the first time, we can offer a Spanish collection by Desedamas Cecilie and Marce as well a fine example of Italian quilting in works of Fiber4 group. From Germany come the quilts of Gröbenzeller Quiltgruppe with oriental themes and some Kaftans. Very interesting for our visitors may be a textile interpretation of poems by R.M. Rilke created by V. Schlüsselberg and M. Goldbach.
Quilters from countries by world oceans connected their efforts and an amazing collection by the group Crossing Oceans will be on display. Another exotic theme may be found in quilts from Kazakhstan. The best attended workshop in 2017 was Sashiko by Susan Briscoe, no wonder she will come again, this time with complete quilt collection as well as a small gallery of echoes from 2017 class. Romana Černá will show in Czech premiere her Landscapes in Art Quilt. Most of the international artist will give master workshops, which may be pre-ordered from November 2017. Details will be available on our webpage.
2018 will surely welcome a lot of visitors interested in the challenges open for all the international artists. Modern techniques and in particular an innovative elaboration of textiles is condition of the SEASONS challenge. The traditional STORM AT SEA, on the other hand, will be a challenge for classical quilters. Art Quilt Club CZ has its own challenge set for 2018, TWEED quilts will surely offer a new perspective on this rather uncommon material
After the huge success of the Cut-outs from old Prague curated by M. Listikova, another local topic will be presented: My Country – Highlights of Czechia and Moravia. Small quilts will connect quilting with the attractive tourist destination and home of PPM – Czech Republic.
The two largest Czech groups are also preparing their galleries: Art Quilt Harbour and Ten to Twelve with original collections.
Bernina will be following up the children oriented workshops held in 2017 with an international project PatchKids.
We can already promise you galleries by leading Czech quilters, the widest selection of traditional as well as modern quilts made in the Czech Republic (competition Czech Quilt) and a special project aimed at traditional patchwork.
