Almost 30 collections from all over the world showing the contemporary top achievements in patchwork and quilting will be presented to the visitors: from traditional quilts to gallery and museum items of art quilts.
The leading representative of European quilt art Mrs. Willyne Hammerstein, well known thanks to Millefiori quilts and La Passacaglia, that inspired hundreds of quilters, will offer not only a gallery, but an exclusive workshop on Sunday April 7th as well. Another Dutch quilter, Mrs. Will Fritsma shows a “women” gallery based on precise and innovative sewing and quilting. From Germany two invited artists will share their work: Christine Bünning presents Musical Quilts and Birgit Schüller a wide range of her master quilts. YUZA Sashiko Guild from Japan will be introduced to the visitors by Susan Briscoe. After few years Elisabeth Nacenta de la Croix from Switzerland returns to Prague, this time with shibori landscapes.
Guest country 2019 is Sweden, the curators Mrs. Monica Daniellson Bichsel and Anita Fors will pick up the best examples of Swedish quilting scene. International artists from Europe and Israel are represented in SAQA Wide Horizons VI collection.
Another 3 galleries will be forms from our competitions: challenges Dresden Plate and Writing in Quilt as well as material challenge of the Art Quilt Club CZ on theme Jute. More quilts are to be seen in Czech Quilts category as well as in choice of International quilts. Veteran Automobile is another theme based collection of curator Marcela Listiková. Two major Czech groups Art Quilt Harbour and TTT will present their new achievements. Irena Zemanová shows her new quilts called In Circles, Jana Stěrbová launches a new series Rusted inspired by rusted artefacts from Usain Bolt Tower in Dolní Vítkovice and Mr. and Mrs. Skočkovi will show the latest Wallachian quilts. Lovers of traditional patchwork will surely welcome a new theme: Stars of Czech Classic, the first one being Mrs. Danuše Březinová.
In 2018 for the first time Czech children participated in world children´s challenge Patch Kids, in 2019 more children and even more countries will participate, the final number of quilts may be even entered in the Guiness´ Book of records. Some more galleries will be announced.
From Friday to Sunday workshops will be offered lead by foremost European teachers, this year again with once Czech lecturer: Mrs. Jaroslava Grycová shows the special technique of her confetti landscapes.
Part of the show is a large shopping area with more quilts to admire and mini workshops on spot.
